I wail. I mourn. For I am not eating to live but to die.
O God! Save me from myself!

Fasting
We do not have to wait for God to call us into a fast.
God is kinda like a grandma in that when she cooks, she cooks tons of food for her grand-children, like chicken and dumplings, fresh baked peach cobbler, rolls and sweet tea! YUM! God loves us so much and wants us to be comfortable and satisfied in Him. When we fast, in the same what grandma's are concerned about us, God us concerned for us. We might at some point have to tell our grand-mother we are on a diet, that until we have healthy, fit and trim bodies, we are not going to eat another bite of her comfort foods. Fasting says to God, until I am close to You again, I am not eating another bite. God quickly ushers into out lives with the comfort of the Holy Spirit. He comes to our aid. He fills our need. He lifts us up. Fasting is like picking up the phone to call a good friend, but God always answers. Won't you give fasting a try?
Matthew 6:16-18
When you fast, do not look somber, as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Whoop(ie)s!
I was so good at dinner - salad with chicken! Then what happened? Sweet tooth dragged me to the store and MADE me buy it whoopie pies. Yes, I said pie(S)! I ate 5! (Good thing nobody really reads my blogs!)
But the really great part of it is now I am inspired to get working at it again.
I am reaching out for support. Looked up how to train for a marathon. Going out to buy some running shoes. Made plans to go to the gym Thursday.
You know, the crazy thing is, I felt like **** all day today! It is never worth it!

How did I get here?
When I was really young, my Aunt introduced me to Jane Fonda Workout, and from then on I was addicted. Sometimes I would do it two and three times a day. When I was sixteen my mom bought me a lifetime gym membership. Same thing sometimes I would go twice in one day! I have always loved working out especially aerobics and more recently pilates. Besides this, I have always loved body building. When I was young I thought I would look like the muscle women in magazines. I loved Arnold's muscles and just thought he was the cutest thing. So, why have I been 'fat' all my life?
First of all, I have not really been fat all my life. I only thought I was fat when I was not! Where did I get the idea that I was fat then?
Many areas! I remember my mom telling me or others how when I was seven I came back from my dads one summer and I was fat! Now I know that is a stage when hormones begin to kick in and we store fat a little easier but most children will burn it off throughout the various growing spurts. Another way I got the idea I was fat was in comparing myself to other children. Some were bigger and some were smaller. I paid no attention to those who were bigger. I only focused on the fact that I was bigger than some!
By twelve I was very interested in starving myself. And I tried for a while. Even being concerned about the calories in toothpaste. Where I got that idea I do not know! Maybe it was after my boyfriends mom said I was 'puggy'!
At thirteen I did a report on anorexia and I think it scared me and educated me of the dangers. Not worth it!
Always thinking of myself as fat, I shyed away from many activities, beach days, swimming, dances. I was also informed by many growing up about how white my skin was as well. This led me to daydream about being tan and brunett. To say the least, I was not accepting of my appearence. What helped me accept myself was the attention I was getting from boys. It was not much, but there were a few who made me feel worth while.
I had a few girlfriends who had tan skin and were not at all 'puggy'. When I was with them I witnessed how boys flipped out by there presence. Looking back I am glad I did not have that much attention. Looking back I can see how distorted my vision of myself was. If I had seen myself the way I really looked I would have caused myself way less suffering. If I had been only concerned with what was going on inside of me I would have saved myself for something better. I settled for what I could get because I thought I was lucky. Now I see I was needy.
The more I did not accept or love myself the heavier my burden was to carry and the heavier my body became. The worse I felt about my life, the worse I took care of myself. My health became way at the bottom of my priority list. There has always been someone or something more important that I gave my time and attention to. I do not blame my parents or myself for what happened in my life. I am grateful for the life I have, the body I have and the love I have in my life. From now on I am putting myself back up at the top of the priority list. My health matters because my life matters. And so does yours!

Bummer!
This is so crazy! I posted my weigh in on July 22 at 243lbs. I feel like it has been maybe six months but in reality it has been eight! That is crazy! I had been going to the gym pretty consistantly since December and weighing in at 250 -255. So for the last few weeks I have been making a conserted effort to be careful, not eat so much, not eat fast food, eat whole foods more, etc. And I weighed in at 246 today! I was thrilled to think I had lost a few lbs. So I wanted to see what I posted on July 22nd. Now that I see I have actually gained 3lbs. I no longer feel thrilled!

WAR
In the same way, these dreamers pollute thier own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. Jude 1:8
What are we polluting our bodies with?
I was sitting in math class today and thinking how awesome a cheeseburger with grilled onions at In-n-Out would be for lunch. Mmmm! I walked out of class and right before my eyes three In-n-Out big-riggs were pulling up onto the campus court yard! Seriously! For a brief second, I thought, this is my day! Should I stick around until they get set up? Maybe they are going to be giving out free hamburgers! (The school was having some kind of even).
Just yesterday I was looking up weight-loss hypnotism videos on You Tube. Maybe they worked because I just walked right through all those trucks (trying not to get hit by them - like frogger!) And as I did I began to get upset! I realized this is what they want. They want us to buy, not just their burgers, their culture, what their advertisment dollars paid for! The logo alone makes us salivate!
I have been praying for God to make me hungry for WHOLE foods. I try to think when I am hungry, "What can I eat, that will be good for me, before I get so hungry that I don't care what I eat?" I ended up going to Mother's Market for a cold delicious organic fruit smoothie. YUM! And with all the right minerals my body needs too!
This is war! Are you ready? I am!

Anyone have any suggestions for a ministry name related to this blog?
Not so much about weight loss but more having to do with health and nutrition, a lifestyle of wellness. Off the top of my head:
